Granny's Perogies
The recipe below is from Granny Fedorak (nee Bear). This is the first of many perogie recipes and one of the ones i am most famliar with though it has a bit of a modern twist with the addition of Cheeze Whiz. I use shredded cheddar instead.

Ingredients
Dough:
7 cups flour
¼ tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ cup butter
½ cup water

Filling:
1 pot of boiled potatoes
½ cup butter
½ cup cheese whiz
Preparation
Mix the dry ingredients together. Melt the butter into the ½ cup of water and then mix into the dry ingredients. Add 1 ½ to 2 cups of very warm water.
Cut the dough into quarters and roll out on a flat surface as thin as possible. Let the dough rest one hour. Cut into rounds.

Mash the potatoes and mix with butter and cheese whiz. Add a tsp of the potato filling in each round of dough. Fold over and seal shut. Place on a cookie sheet and freeze. When ready to serve boil until the perogies float at the top of the pot.
